Title: Geologic map of the White Horse Pass area, Elko County, Nevada

Author: N.J. Silberling and K.M. Nichols
Year: 2002
Series: Map 132
Version:
Format: plate: 35 x 42 inches, color; text: 8 pages, b/w
Scale: 1:24,000

A 1:24,000-scale, full-color geologic map of the White Horse Pass area in southeast Elko County, with two cross sections and 24 geologic units. The structural evolution of this area is discussed in the accompanying text. Within the map area the footwall of major Tertiary detachment exposes Devonian and Mississippian strata documenting three generations of deformation, the oldest of which includes folds and attenuation faults related to intrusion of the circa 160-Ma White Hourse pluton. In the hanging wall of the detachment are Pennsylvanian to Lower Triassic strata and lower Tertiary volcanic rocks, all moderately to strongly tilted down-to-the-west. Late Tertiary through recent deposits include megabreccias related to high-angle normal faulting, volcanic tuff, lacustrine deposits, and alluvial sediments.
