The Round Mountain mining district is located on the western slope of the Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, about 50 miles north of Tonopah, Nevada. Lode gold occurrences are found around Stebbins Hill and Round Mountain just southwest of the mouths of Jefferson and Shoshone canyons. The principal underground gold mines were developed through shafts on the west side of Round Mountain.
