Title: Trace-element geochemical data from mineralized samples from Nevada
Author: Joseph V. Tingley
Year: 1998
Series: Open-File Report 1998-08
Version: This open-file report was formerly entitled Geochemical Data. OF1998-08z supersedes the CD-ROM version, OF1998-08. Format: digital file only, 5.9 MB, zipped
Scale:
This Open-File Report 1998-08 contains ArcView shapefiles and ARC/INFO export files of geochemical data collected from mineralized sites throughout Nevada, including Nellis Air Force Range and the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Microsoft Excel and dBASE III formats are also included. The data contain results of geochemical analyses of over 4,200 samples, and consist of UTM coordinates, spectrographic results for up to 35 elements, and atomic adsorption results for up to 11 elements. This open-file report was formerly entitled Geochemical Data.
About the Digital Files
There are four files (dbase and excel files for the following):
1. nvanal
(.dbf /.xls): This file contains 4,235 records, each record is emission
spectrometer analysis of a sample collected at a mine or prospect
(there is a sheet that lists elements analyzed and the detection
limits). The analyses were done by the Branch of Exploration
Geochemistry, U.S. Geological Survey, Golden, Colorado. The elements
tested vary slightly from the start of the program in 1981 until it
ended in 1991. Most have 40 element emission spectrometer analysis plus 3
to 5 elements by atomic adsorption.
2. dnwranal (.dbf
/.xls): This file contains analyses of 79 samples collected within the
DesertNational Wildlife Range, Clark and Lincoln Counties Nevada. The
samples were analyzed by Bondar Clegg Chemists, Reno, Nevada (ICP
analysis).
3. nellanal (.dbf /.xls): This file contains analyses of 809
samples collected within the Nellis Air Force Range, Nye, Clark, and
Lincoln Counties, Nevada. These samples were analyzed by USML, Auburn,
California. (ICP analysis), and XRAL Labs, Ann Arbor, Michigan (INAA
analysis).
4. NvDesc (.txt /.doc) Sample description file:
This file contains location data and descriptive information on all of
the samples in the three analysis files. The .txt file is a comma
delimited file, and the .doc file is a document file that will open in
any word processor or MS wordpad. The field "SAMPLE" is the same in all
.dbf, shapefile, and NvDesc.txt files.
